The Adam Smith Institute announced today the completion of its project to erect the World's first public monument to Adam Smith – the great Scottish economist, philosopher, and author of The Wealth of Nations.
The picture below shows the 10-foot bronze statue being placed on its massive stone plinth. The statue is on Edinburgh's Royal Mile – right in the heart of Scotland's capital city. It stands next to St Giles Cathedral and opposite Edinburgh's City Chambers.
The statue was unveiled by Nobel Laureate economist Vernon Smith.
Gavin Kennedy gives us his view on events associated with the unveiling here, here and here.
